web note: I
took both of Ana's classes at
Quilting in the Trees this
year and we learned
transferring photos and
designs to fabric, lettering,
adding textures using
moulding paste and gels,
layering, painting on fabric
and much more. If you
have the opportunity to take
a class with Ana, do not pass
it by. She is encouraging,
patient and her feather
stitches Superb! -

Ana Buzzalino –Introduction to Fabric Painting 1 day
Friday
plus 1.5 hour class the previous evening Beginners+
During the introductory class, the fabric will be chosen, layered
with batting, and prepared for quilting. Principles of free-motion
machine quilting will be reinforced. Each student will get a chance
to discuss how to best quilt the piece in preparation for the next
day’s class. The day of the class, we will explore mixing colors,
the use of extender; discuss acrylics vs. fabric paints; brushes,
etc. The focus of the class will be to paint the previously quilted
piece using the fabric as a guide for color placement.
Ana Buzzalino –
Transferring, Lettering and Painting on Fabric
2 days – Saturday and Sunday Beginners+
The class will focus on different
methods of transferring photos and designs to fabric, lettering,
adding textures, layering, etc. This is a fun class with lots of
chances to explore new methods of adding interest to backgrounds and
designs. Students will work on small samples of different
techniques, so that at the end of the course they will have a
“library” of techniques to refer to in the future. On the second
day, students will have a choice of pulling some of the techniques
together and work on a small art piece, or continue to work on
individual samples using their favourite techniques. Different
techniques will be explored each day.
