Susan Teece
Textile Trees en Plein Aire

1 day – Friday
Beginners+

Just like the water colour artists who are inspired by natural scenery, we will spend time outside, enjoying the landscape and observing trees around Pearson College.
The sample wall hanging has trees and shows some possibilities.  You have a choice of cedar, fir or arbutus.
Various techniques for achieving texture and shadows will be discussed.
Using a stash of fabric pieces, you will create the tree truck you choice.  You may use a variety of fabrics (not just cotton), threads, machine stitches, beads, metallics and yarns.
A demonstration of easy background techniques will show you how to complete your wall hanging.  Patterns for west coast trees and foliage shapes are provided
